Great Words

Fading Away

November 27, 2012 · J. Robert

24 As the Scriptures say,
“People are like grass;
their beauty is like a flower in the field.
The grass withers and the flower fades.
25 But the word of the Lord remains forever.”
And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.
1 Peter 1:24-25 NLT

We recently deleted our Facebook account along with a professional register that allowed me to stay connected with current and past co-workers. I have also took all references to who I am off of this website; Why? Well I am finally getting with God’s plan for my life; less of me and more of Him.

Scripture reminds us that no matter how much riches we gather, regardless of the power and position we attain, in spite of all our efforts to impress and “leave our mark”; I am going to die and 100 years from now I will be forgotten. But I can live in the confidence that God will not forget me.

My job gives me the opportunity to review a number of resumes’ on a regular basis. I am always entertained when I meet some of the prospective employee and find that my assessment of their capabilities has no correlation to theirs. We all have a high opinion of ourselves! I am just as guilty.

Thank Jesus that God will see me through a lens of grace; less of me and more of Him. As I grow in time each day I desire my life to become more transparent, allowing the light of God’s love to shine through me for the world to see; less of me and more of Him.

Peter is reminding us that our old life; life without Christ; is dying and fading away. But, our new life; life with Christ; will live forever. Less of me and more of Him.
